You can not miss this grand finale to a great year! http://dcfcpug120110.eventbrite.com/?ref=ecount
Please RSVP so we can feed you. I hope to see you at this awesome meeting!
I just want to thank everyone for showing up last week. It was a fantastic turnout and the speakers were glorious. It was a real hoot. Now go off and finish all of your projects for the year. Enjoy the holiday season with those you love and cherish. Relax and get away from your computer this holiday season. Have an extra glass of eggnog. Get ready for the New Year!! It's gonna be fantastic.
We can all agree that Scott was a very charismatic speaker. And his team's work at Resolution Post is fantastic. It was quality work and I will speak on behalf of the entire group and say thanks again to Scott for showing us some tips and some amazing pieces.
I am an FCP editor. I love doing my effects in After Effects. Both are great pieces of software. They just have a hard time communicating with each other. Not anymore. You have to bring your FCP project into Premiere before going to AE, but it’s still better if you like to be organized and like to see all of your video layers. Fantastic.
Check out Scott's company at resolutionpost.com
Also here is the FCP to AE tool that was discussed:

Ah....It’s good to be back. Vacation...check. Brain...check. Back to work....check. AE updates...in progress.
First thing, I’ve been diligently looking for sponsors and speakers. Some were hits and some were misses. And by miss I mean no one has responded back yet, so hopefully they will be hits soon enough! So please check out our sponsors below for discounts on stuff! Some things require a special discount code, so please email me and I will be more than happy to give you the code.
Second, we have two meetings coming up. The first is August 4th. I am taking volunteers to present some of your latest motion graphics works. We would all love to learn about your process. It will also be a great opportunity to give and get constructive feedback/questions. Our September 7th meeting is a very exciting meeting indeed. Instructor, professional, author, giver-of-great-AE-knowledge, Richard Harrington will be presenting to our group. Fellow AE group member Xi Lin will be giving us a breakdown of Rhed Pixel’s latest project followed by a presentation by Mr. Harrington on how we can use the entire Adobe Creative Suite to enhance our After Effects workflow. Spectacular.
Also, how do you like our new banner?!?! It was done by our very own, Sarah Cannon. I think it’s pretty sweet. She answered my call to action to design a banner. I am still taking other designs. The dimensions are in the post below this.
I will also be giving away some sweet freebies at the next meeting. So please, RSVP!!
AE group updates....check.
Check out this video shot and composited by our very own, Zhibo Lai...Very nice! Enjoy!!!
As you can probably ascertain, I was having difficulty posting some of my work to the media gallery before I found a method that worked (namely, hotlinking to YouTube). I need to get rid of these non-functional posts, but have searched high and low and can't seem to find a way. Does anyone in the group know how to? These posts are just a lot of clutter I'd like to get rid of.
I know it's been awhile since my last update. My apologies. It's been a bit crazy.
Here are a few updates:
Last week Richard Harrington spoke to the group out at Rhed Pixel. I personally thought it was a fantastic meeting filled with tips and tricks from one of the industries leading instructors. There were tons, way too many to name here, of easy features demonstrated. The really cool thing is that they are all built right into the software you purchased. No plugins necessary! It definitely got my mind grapes a turnin.
We are currently looking for a place to hold our October meeting. I am starting to lean towards an After Effects happy hour, but I am waiting to see what Zhibo, your humble co-manager, can get out of a couple places he is looking into.
November and December are big months. November is the Motion Graphics festival! December is the Government expo. Expect updates on these two events soon in regards to how our group will be involved.
I hope your life is great and your motion graphics work is endless, boundless, and ever-inspiring.
Also, I am looking for contributors to blog on this site! Please let me know if you are interested: firstname.lastname@example.org
Also go check out aefreemart.com. I am a regular contributor on that website. Look for amazing tips and tricks!
