I am the Production Coordinator for a political advertising and public relations firm here in Washington. We are gearing up for the 2012 political season, and are anticipating a high number of graphically driven television and web spots in the coming year.

To all DC AE user group members, as a new manager of this group, I'd like to hear what type of events would you all like to see at our future meetings.
We have a partnership with DCFCP and can continue to do joint event featuring speakers of various companies that apply to After Effects. Another option is to have members speak at the meeting about their projects and techniques. We can hold a topic of the month, and say one month can be "Green Screen," and members with expertise can show samples of their green screen work and provide some tips. Another month could be "Animating titles in 3D," etc...
We can continue to feature speakers as they are availble in the area, and in the off months, we can have member speakers on designated topics. What does everyone think? I'm open to ideas?

I've been rounding up sponsors. If you work for a company that would be interested in helping our group, please let me know. Let's start a discussion on who else we can approach in the DC area. I've already approached a few publishers and online training websites. Lynda.com was the first to respond. I am waiting on the other's to get back to me. In the meantime, throw out some ideas.
I am also looking for people to speak at future meetings. If you know someone in the area with great knowledge, please let them know that our group is interested in hearing what they have to say. For example, if they are an expert at workflow, content management, effects, etc. Also, if there is a general consensus on what issues arise the most in the workplace, please include that in the discussion. Then once we see what that is, then we can pursue someone that has mastered the dilemma.

As you can probably ascertain, I was having difficulty posting some of my work to the media gallery before I found a method that worked (namely, hotlinking to YouTube). I need to get rid of these non-functional posts, but have searched high and low and can't seem to find a way. Does anyone in the group know how to? These posts are just a lot of clutter I'd like to get rid of.

Looks like we have a handful of people interested in AEDC. That's great! Now that we have enough eggs in the basket, we can start talking a bit about business. We need to have a meeting before July 8, to prove to Adobe that we are legitimate group of folks that love to talk about After Effects and the biz. Let's take a small vote. What day of the week is better for most? I can work around anything because this is one of my major priorities right now. Lemme know!!
